Jane McNulty is the owner and instructor at Music 4 Everyone.  She has been teaching piano for over 15 years, but has been surrounded by music her entire life. The daughter of a Jazz Pianist, Maynard Johnson and a Master Piano teacher, Nancy Johnson, music is truly in Jane’s soul.

Her love of and own career in music began when she was very young.  After studying music and pedagogy, Jane entered the Air Force, where she was an award-winning performer with the elite entertainment showcase the USAF Tops in Blue.  She performed with a traveling showcase entertaining troops around the world as well as major events and venues such as the NBC Bob Hope Birthday Special, Walt Disney World, Caesar’s Palace, and the Super Bowl XIX Halftime Show.

Mixing a love of the piano with raising a family, Jane began offering private piano instruction in the early 90’s and continues today to provide what she believes is an important part of any child or adult student’s life.  It is her traditional approach with a twist that she believes makes her teaching style worth the investment on the part of the student.

“I enjoy teaching traditional piano lessons and have found that if a song isn’t working for a student, we need to find something they like playing.  My goal is to make learning to play the piano something that everyone can enjoy.” Jane McNulty

Advantages of Private Instruction:

Flexibility:  Often in piano lessons, students might find pieces they do not enjoy playing.  If forced to continue with those selections, there is a risk that students will lose interest and never develop a love of playing the piano.  Many times, we have seen students engage more fully in playing when they are allowed and encouraged to play pieces they enjoy.

Mentoring:One of the most unusual opportunities found at Jane’s piano studio is student mentoring.  Younger students are eager to learn what they hear from older students, and many older students respond well to the chance to teach someone else.

Alternative Recitals: Venturing away from the idea of a traditional piano recital, Jane’s students often enjoy the lighthearted fun of piano recitals in the park, in the spring, and in costume, at Halloween. Always, Jane works to bring as much fun and as little pressure into the experience for each student as possible.
